Last weekend around 5 p.m., my friend and I decided to visit a place I had only heard about before — Geumnyeonsan Mountain, near Deyeondong, Busan. We took a taxi, not knowing that this short trip would become one of the most emotional and unforgettable experiences of my life in Korea.

As the taxi drove along the winding mountain road, something unexpected happened — I was suddenly reminded of Sylhet, my home in Bangladesh. The curves, the trees, the quietness — everything felt so familiar. It was like two worlds were blending together for a moment. I couldn’t express it in words — it just touched my heart.

Eventually, the taxi dropped us off, and we began to walk uphill to reach the viewpoint. The climb was not easy, but the cool breeze, the sound of nature, and the beauty all around made it feel like a peaceful journey. Step by step, we got closer to the top, where something magical was waiting.

And then — the view opened up.

From the top of Geumnyeonsan Mountain, I saw the entire city of Busan. The sun was slowly setting, and the sky was painted with soft orange and pink. It honestly felt like I was looking out from an airplane window — the buildings, the lights, the ocean far away… it was breathtaking.

All around us were Korean people and foreigners, smiling, taking pictures, sitting quietly, enjoying the moment. I saw Korean families sharing snacks, couples capturing memories, and hikers resting after a long walk. There was a peaceful feeling in the air — something that reminded me of why I love living in Korea.

Suddenly, we noticed a few Bangladeshi friends also visiting the place! We greeted each other, smiled, and talked for a while. Even far from home, we somehow keep finding pieces of it in unexpected places.

Around 8 p.m., we started walking back, slowly, holding onto the feeling we just experienced.

That evening on Geumnyeonsan Mountain reminded me that beauty doesn't need words — it just needs open eyes and an open heart. I felt a connection between my past and present, between Bangladesh and Korea, between my memories and dreams.

I will never forget that view, that breeze, and that feeling of standing above the city — both grounded and free, all at once.
