Today, we would like to learn about the types of D-2 visas for students who are studying in Korea or have been confirmed to study abroad.
The detailed classification of visas varies depending on the curriculum, the target degree, and the content of study abroad. Please note that even for the purpose of obtaining and researching a degree in Korea, it can be rejected unless you apply for a visa that suits your purpose.
1. D-2-1 Visa (Professional Scholar Visa)
A visa applied by a person who wants to learn practical skills or specialized knowledge in a specific field at a junior college established under the provisions of the Act, and obtain a specialized bachelor's degree through this
2. D-2-2 Visa (academic visa)
The most popular visa for a person who wants to study general studies at a four-year university and obtain a degree for it.
3. D-2-3 Visa (Master's Visa)
Visa applied by someone who has a bachelor's degree and wants to get a master's degree by studying the field in graduate school and writing it as a thesis. Most of them seek to change to an E-7 visa in the future. Most of them apply for a D-2-3 visa even if they apply for a bachelor's or master's integration course and pass it.
4. D-2-4 Visa (Doctor's Visa)
Visas applied by those who have a bachelor's or master's degree and wish to obtain a doctoral degree by writing a thesis on them. This is one of the recommended visas for those who want to change to an E-7 or F-5 visa. Many people apply for D-2-4 visas even if they apply for and pass the master's or doctoral integration course.
5. D-2-5 Visa (Certain Research Course Visa)
A visa obtained by a person who holds a master's or doctoral degree in universities and research institutes and intends to study for experimental practice and thesis writing while conducting research only in specialized fields. Documents proving stay expenses are required, and the period of stay is at least 3 months.
6. D-2-6 Visa (Exchange Student Visa)
Visa for students who will stay at a Korean university for a specific semester after the exchange student program is accepted from a foreign university to a Korean university while studying. The period of stay is the semester and vacation period, and documents proving the expenses and exchange student verification are required.
7. D-2-7 visa (work study-linked international student visa)
Visas issued to students selected for government-invited work-study-linked international student programs. It explicitly helps to obtain advanced visas and permanent residency in the future.
8. D-2-8 Visa (short-term training visa)
Visa provided to international students who wish to study abroad for a short period of not more than one year in addition to the regular degree program at a domestic university as a student or faculty member. Unlike exchange students, it is a visa issued when studying in a short-term degree course.

4년제 대학교에서 일반학문에 대해 학습하고, 이에 대해 학위를 받고자 하는 사람이 신청하는 비자로, 가장 대중적인 비자.
D-2-3 비자(석사 비자)
학사 학위를 가진 상태로, 대학원에서 해당 분야에 대해 연구하고 이를 논문으로 작성해 석사학위를 취득하고자 하는 사람이 신청하는 비자. 향후 E-7 비자로의 변경을 노리는 경우가 대다수이다. 학사·석사 통합과정에 지원해 합격하는 경우에도 D-2-3 비자를 신청하는 경우가 대부분이다.
D-2-4 비자(박사 비자)
학사 혹은 석사 학위를 가진 상태로, 대학원에서 해당 분야에 대해 연구하고 이를 논문으로 작성해 박사 학위를 취득하고자 하는 사람이 신청하는 비자. E-7 비자 혹은 F-5 비자로의 변경을 노리는 경우 추천할만한 비자 중 하나이다. 석·박사 통합과정에 지원해 합격하는 경우에도 D-2-4 비자를 많이 신청한다.
