However, until then, the second financial sector did not support non-face-to-face transactions, so you must have experienced inconvenience because you had to visit the bank in person with various documents.
Now, it seems that foreigners will also be comfortable with non-face-to-face transactions in the second financial sector.
The Ministry of Justice announced that it will expand the "foreign registration card verification service" to financial institutions in the second financial sector for registered foreigners staying in Korea in cooperation with the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute.
The foreigner registration card verification service is a service that determines authenticity by comparing the foreign registration card (including permanent resident card and domestic residence report card) transmitted by a financial company with the information held by the Ministry of Justice and responds to the financial company in real time when a registered foreigner does financial business that requires identification verification through a branch window or mobile app.
Until then, employees of financial institutions had to check it themselves, language was not working well, and there was a lot of concern about financial accidents due to forged, falsified or stolen identification cards, which is also a policy that can be relieved.
In particular, considering that foreigners were less accessible than expected to the first financial sector, I think it will be of great help to foreigners' life in Korea.

법무부가 금융결제원과 협력해 우리나라에 체류하는 등록 외국인을 대상으로 한 ‘외국인등록증 진위 확인 서비스’를 제2금융권 금융기관에도 확대해 시행한다고 밝힌 건데요.
외국인등록증 진위 확인 서비스는 등록 외국인이 영업점 창구 또는 모바일 앱 등을 통해 신분증 확인이 필요한 금융업무를 할 때, 금융회사에서 전송한 외국인등록증(영주증, 외국국적동포 국내거소신고증 포함) 정보를 법무부 보유 정보와 비교해 진위 여부를 판단하고 그 결과를 금융회사에 실시간으로 회신해주는 서비스입니다.
이때까지는 금융기관 직원이 직접 확인해야하고, 언어도 잘 통하지 않고, 위조 혹은 변조되거나 도난된 신분증때문에 금융 사고가 발생할 우려도 많았는데, 그 점을 덜어낼 수 있는 정책이기도 합니다.
특히 외국인들이 제1금융권에 생각보다 접근성이 떨어졌었단 걸 생각하면, 외국인 여러분들의 한국 생활에 큰 도움이 될 것이라 생각됩니다.
