Today is the news of the revision of the Korean law after a long time.
I think there are many foreigners who are married to Koreans and live in Korea.
However, according to Korean law up to this point, the name of the child was only allowed up to 5 characters.
This restriction will now disappear.
The Supreme Court said on the 24th that children born between foreigners and Koreans can register their birth without restrictions on the number of name letters.
Until then, it was possible to exceed 5 characters only if a child born between a foreign father and a Korean mother registered a birth with a foreign name listed on the father's country's social register along the father's last name.
However, after the revision, children born to Korean fathers and foreign mothers will no longer be restricted in the number of names if they register their birth under the name listed on the mother's national register.
Even if you have already registered your birth, you can change it to a supplementary registration, so if you are interested, please find out.

하지만 이때까지의 한국법상 자녀의 이름은 5글자까지만 허용되었는데요.
이제 이 제한이 사라집니다.
외국인과 한국인 사이에서 출생한 자녀는 이름 글자 수를 제한받지 않고 출생신고를 할 수 있다고 24일 대법원이 밝힌 것인데요.
이때까지는 예외적으로 외국인 아버지와 한국인 어머니 사이에서 출생한 자녀가 아버지의 성을 따라 아버지 나라의 신분 등록부에 기재된 외국식 이름으로 출생신고를 하는 경우에만 5글자 초과가 가능했습니다.
그러나 개정 이후 한국인 아버지와 외국인 어머니 사이에서 출생한 자녀도 어머니 나라 신분 등록부에 기재된 이름으로 출생신고를 할 경우 이름 글자 수 제한받지 않게 됐다고 합니다.
이미 출생신고를 한 경우에도 보완신고로 변경이 가능하다고 하니, 관심 있으신 분들은 알아보시기 바랍니다.
