What is the most popular visa in Korea?
There must be a lot of visas, but I personally think it's an F-5 visa.
The F-5 visa is a visa that pays permanent residency and features no restrictions on activities in Korea except for criminal activities.
In particular, it is attractive that there is no need to obtain permission for activities other than the status of stay, change and additional permission, and extension of the period of stay, re-entry permission is exempted for two years, and reasons for forced eviction or cancellation of permanent residence status are limited.
Of course, there is a reason for cancellation that if you do not enter the country for two years after leaving the country, you will lose your permanent residence status, like in other countries, but I think this is better than if a slight mistake in life deprives you of your residence status and leads to deportation abroad.
Today, we will learn about the types of F-5 visas.
For F-5 visas, there are so many detailed visa types.
General resident (F-5-1): A person who has been in Korea for at least five years on a D-7, D-8, D-9, D-10, E-1, E-2, E-3, E-4, E-5, E-6, E-7, F-2 visa as an adult
Marriage Immigrant (F-5-2): A Korean spouse or a former spouse who has been in Korea for at least two years on an F-6 visa
Minors of citizens (F-5-3): A minor Korean child who has been in Korea for more than two years on an F-2 visa
Spouse of permanent residents, minor children (F-5-4): spouse of permanent residents (excluding score-based permanent residents), minor children who have stayed in Korea for at least two years
High investment (F-5-5): A person who has invested USD 500,000 (US$500,000) or more and has employed Koreans as full-time employees with at least five employees
Overseas Koreans (F-5-6): A person who has been staying for more than two years on an F-4 visa
Acquisition of nationality (F-5-7): A person who meets the requirements for acquisition of nationality under the Nationality Act as an overseas Korean (foreign national Korean)
Overseas Chinese (F-5-8): an overseas Chinese born in Korea
Doctor of Advanced Technology (F-5-9): A person who obtained a doctorate in high-tech industries abroad and was employed by a Korean company at the time of applying for an F-5 visa
Bachelor, Master, and Certificate Holder (F-5-10): A person who holds a bachelor's degree or higher in the high-tech industry, a master's degree or higher in the general field, or a technical certificate and has been employed full-time by a Korean company for at least one year
Specific competencies (F-5-11): A person who has outstanding abilities in a specific field, such as science, management, education, culture and arts, physical education, etc
Special Contributor (F-5-12): A person who has a special contribution to Korea
Pensioner (F-5-13): A person who is 60 years of age or older and receives a certain amount of pension from abroad
Visiting employment (F-5-14): A person who has worked on an H-2 visa for at least four years
General field Ph.D. (F-5-15): A person who is employed by a Korean company after completing a regular course at a graduate school in Korea and earning a doctorate
Scoring permanent residents (F-5-16): A person who has stayed for more than 3 years on an F-2-7 visa
Real Estate Investors (F-5-17): A person who has invested continuously for more than five years on an F-2-8 visa
Spouse and underage children of the score-based permanent residents (F-5-18)
Spouse and unmarried child of real estate investor (F-5-19)
Permanent Resident's Domestic Birth Children (F-5-20): Children born in Korea
Public utilities general investor (F-5-21): A person who has invested continuously for more than five years with an F-2-12 visa
Spouse of Public Utilities Investor, unmarried child (F-5-22): spouse, unmarried child of F-5-21 or F-5-23 visa holder
Public Utilities Retired Immigrant Investor (F-5-23): A person who has invested in public utilities for more than five years with an F-2-14 visa and has assets of KRW 300,000,000 (KRW 300 million) or more in Korea
Technology start-up investment (F-5-24): A person who has attracted more than KRW 300,000,000 (KRW 300 million) and employed two or more Koreans with a D-8-4 visa
CONDITIONAL HIGH-SIZE INVESTOR (F-5-25): A person who has pledged the condition of investing KRW 3,000,000,000 (KRW 3 billion) or more for more than five years, spouse, and unmarried child
Research and development personnel of foreign-invested enterprises (F-5-26): A person who has worked for at least three years as an essential specialist in R&D facilities invested by foreigners
Refugee (F-5-27): A person who has been staying in Korea for more than two years on an F-2-4 visa
Of these, F-5-5 and F-5-11 visas can be issued overseas, and other F-5 visas can only be changed in Korea.
Nevertheless, if you apply for an F-5 visa because you only have that condition, it is likely to be rejected.
