The weather is extremely hot. Some are predicting that temperatures in Korea will soon reach 40 degrees.
As a result, incidents of heat-related illnesses are occurring.
A few days ago, a Vietnamese worker at a Korean construction site sadly passed away due to the high temperatures.
In response, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has proposed measures to address heat-related illnesses during the hot weather.
These measures aren't in effect yet but are expected to be implemented soon after the committee meeting concludes.
Currently, in Korea, the "Five Rules for Heat Wave Safety" include providing cool water, mandatory use of air conditioners, taking a 20-minute break every two hours when the temperature exceeds 33 degrees, supplying and funding cooling devices, and calling 119 in emergencies.
Until now, these guidelines were simple rules, but if the bill is revised following today's committee meeting, the 20-minute break every two hours is likely to be made into law.
Additionally, company owners should be aware that during the Ministry of Employment and Labor's field inspection week, there will be a focus on high-risk workplaces such as construction and shipbuilding.

며칠 전에는 한국 건설 현장에서 일하던 베트남 노동자 한 분께서 높은 온도때문에 생을 마감하신 분도 계셨습니다.
이에 고용노동부에서 혹서기 온열질환 대책을 내놓았는데요.
아직 시행중이지는 않지만, 위원회가 끝나고 나면 곧 시행될 듯 합니다.
현재 우리나라에는 ‘폭염안전 5대 수칙’이라는 내용으로 ‘시원한 물 구비, 냉방장치 필수 사용, 33도 이상의 날씨에서는 2시간마다 20분 이상 휴식, 보냉 장구 비치 및 지급, 119 신고’ 등의 내용을 갖추고 있는데요.
이때까지는 해당 내용이 단순한 수칙이었지만, 오늘 있을 위원회 이후 법안이 개정되면 2시간마다 20분 휴식은 법제화될 가능성이 큽니다.
